The Golden Bridge Child Migration from Scotland to Canada 1869–1939

Barnardo’s home child on farm placement

It was common for home children, especially boys, to be sent to farms as labourers. Here a home child helps the farmer with cattle. This was taken by W W Hind Smith (a member of Barnardo’s Council) whilst accompanying the Canadian party of June and July 1912.
