Please note that this site has not been updated since 2021 and therefore does not reflect changes to legislation implemented after that date, in particular the section referring to the use of YOIs now applies only to those over the age of 18. A new resource is currently being developed.
A date will be set for your trial. Your lawyer or social worker can give you more information on what happens at your trial.
While you await your trial the Sheriff or Judge will make one of the following decisions:
To be held in secure care or custody until the date of your trial.
To be released on bail which means you will be in the community but there may be some rules that you have to follow. It is very important that these rules are followed as if they are not you are breaking the law and might have to go to Court again or go to secure care or custody.
